It's a long way to Filey

This is a modern design of National Trail sign, this time for the England Coast Path. This particular sign is located at Flamborough Head, famous for its impressive chalk cliffs which are home to large numbers of seabirds during nesting season.

This angle gives quite a desolate appearance, the signpost almost appearing to point into the open sea. But if you could turn the camera around, you would see a car park, bus stop, café and gift shop serving hundreds of visitors to the sheltered, sandy beach at North Landing, at the base of the headland.

The distance of 14 miles is among the longest I've ever seen given on a walkers' fingerpost like this.
