The Pennine Bridleway is designated a National Trail, as indicated by the acorn symbol on the left tip of this delightful wooden fingerpost. This design of National Trail fingerpost seems to have been superseded by a different design for new installations, but of course existing ones are not routinely modernised, so you can still see plenty of this and even older designs in situ.
